What's the side effects?

Flaking of pigmented lesions

- Crusts may take 5 to 10 days to disappear and it is important not to manipulate or pick which may otherwise lead to scarring

Discomfort

- During the procedure, I might experience a sensation similar to a rubber band snap which degree will vary per my skin condition and area sensitivity but that does not last long. A mild "sun-burn" sensation may follow for typically up to one hour and will be reduced with application of cooling and soothing creams

Reddening and swelling

- Severity and duration depend on the intensity of the treatment and the sensitivity of the area to be treated. These phenomena may be reduced with application of cooling and/or anti-inflammatory creams

Bruising

-May rarely occur and may last up to 2 weeks

What should I not to do before and after the IPL?

Before IPL Treatment
- Sun Exposure: Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment. Use sunscreen if going outdoors.
- Tanning**: Refrain from tanning beds and self-tanners for at least 2 weeks before the procedure.
- Certain Medications: Avoid blood thinners and certain medications that can increase photosensitivity (consult your doctor).
- Exfoliating Products: Stop using retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), or other strong exfoliants for a week before treatment.
- Waxing or Plucking: Avoid hair removal methods like waxing or plucking in the treatment area for at least a week prior.

- Botox or Fillers: It's generally recommended to avoid Botox or Fillers for at least 2 weeks before undergoing IPL. This allows your skin to settle from any potential swelling or bruising caused by these injections, helping to ensure optimal results from the IPL treatment.

After IPL Treatment
- Sun Exposure: Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 2 weeks post-treatment. Continue using sunscreen diligently.
- Heat Exposure: Steer clear of hot showers, saunas, and intense workouts for a few days.
- Exfoliating Products: Avoid strong exfoliants for at least a week after the procedure.
- Makeup: Minimize makeup use for the first 24 hours to allow the skin to heal.
- Scrubbing or Picking: Do not scrub the treated area or pick at any peeling skin to prevent irritation or infection.
